Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information SmartFireAlerts ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

Contact information for alerts. If you enable SMS or email alerts, we store your phone number and email address to deliver those messages.

Vineyard and asset data. Information you provide about your vineyard — boundaries, asset locations, names, and notes — is stored so we can deliver location-specific fire and weather analysis to you.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. We receive a token and limited metadata (card brand, last 4 digits, billing ZIP) from Stripe so you can manage your subscription.

Usage and device data. We log standard web-server data (IP address, browser, pages viewed, timestamps) for security, debugging, and aggregated usage statistics. We do not sell this data.

How We Use Your Information

SMS Messaging

SmartFireAlerts sends SMS (text messaging) through Twilio to notify vineyard operators of fire, smoke, and weather conditions affecting their vineyard and to accept natural-language commands from users who text their vineyard account. You opt in to SMS by providing a phone number on the signup form or in your profile. Opting in is optional and not a condition of using SmartFireAlerts.

Types of messages you will receive:

Message frequency: typical frequency is up to 2 messages per day; volume may increase during active fire events. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.

Opt-out: reply STOP to any SmartFireAlerts SMS to immediately unsubscribe from all text messages. Reply HELP for support contact information. STOP triggers immediate unsubscribe via Twilio's built-in opt-out handling and updates your SMS preference in our systems. You can re-enable SMS at any time from the preferences section of your profile page.

No third-party sharing of mobile data. SmartFireAlerts does not share or sell your phone number, SMS opt-in status, or SMS consent data with third parties for marketing purposes under any circumstances. Your phone number is used solely for delivering the SmartFireAlerts product and is disclosed only to Twilio (our SMS delivery provider) strictly for the purpose of sending the messages listed above.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

Data Retention

We retain account and vineyard data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, accounting, and backup purposes. Raw satellite fire data is retained according to the TTL settings in our pipeline (currently: raw data 48 hours, fused data 7 days, cluster data 30 days). You can request deletion of your personal data by emailing info@smartfirealerts.com.

Security

We use TLS in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields, and industry-standard access controls. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email info@smartfirealerts.com. California residents have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA; we do not sell personal information as defined by those laws.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you use it from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or in-product notice before they take effect.
